Storm Socks

Designer Name: CURATOR SOCKS

Painted in 1633, Rembrandt's only seascape gained notoriety in recent years for unexpected reasons. In this work, Rembrandt showcases not only his ability to represent religious scenes but also to capture our attention. Depicting the event using contemporary references such as the type of boat, clothing, or even mannerisms he transforms a biblical monolith into a relatable, almost secular picture. Like most Gospel narratives, this scene is about a moment where the disciples lose faith, and Jesus, Who somehow managed to sleep through most of the storm, steps in at the last minute to perform a miracle and, voilá, faith is restored.
