What inspired you to name your brand?

The Wool Project name defines our commitment to sustainability and our use of natural fibers with minimal waste.

What is your earliest design memory for your brand?

Watching my father dying kimonos as a child.

Where do you find inspiration?

I draw inspiration from nature to develop a color story. The various gradations of seasonal tree colors, flower patterns, bird species, cloud formations, and morning light.

“We strive to employ a zero-waste process while designing classic styles that defies the fickle fluctuations of fast fashion trends.”

What sets your brand apart from the rest?

We believe in the everlasting appeal of only using superior quality materials and perennial design ideas with a conscious towards the environment and fair trade.

Do you have a favorite piece that you have designed?

Elliott Hoodie is my favorite design because of its sophisticated yet casual look that suits any age. We constructed a lightweight, high gauge knit cowl neck that can be hooded.

What were some hurdles you had to overcome in your business?

Finding the right associates and trusting myself to always follow my instincts.

How important is sustainability to your brand?

Sustainability is not only our main philosophy, but also our standard operating procedure. We strive to employ a zero-waste process while designing classic styles that defies the fickle fluctuations of fast fashion trends.

What is the one piece of advice you would give to a new designer?

Be mindful of who you associate with and devote as much of your passion into integrity as much you put into creativity.

How important is social media to your brand?

Not that much to be honest. We mostly rely on positive word of mouth from very satisfied customers.

What is the most important thing you would like your brand to be recognized for?

Integrity, honesty and transparency.

“As sustainable fashion grows in popularity, we envision Wool Project taking advantage of being an early adopter of creating timeless designs with a zero-waste philosophy.”

How would you define fashion?

Self-expression communicated through wearable designs.

What is your favorite fashion trend? Least favorite?

My favorite is classic Hollywood authenticity and least favorite is fast fashion.

How has the fashion industry changed since you first started out?

With the introduction of e-commerce, the brand/consumer relationship has moved beyond magazines and brick & mortar to influencers and direct digital accessibility.

What can consumers expect to see next from your brand?

More bold statements through simplicity and maximum comfort.

What do you envision for the future of your brand?

As sustainable fashion grows in popularity, we envision Wool Project taking advantage of being an early adopter of creating timeless designs with a zero-waste philosophy.

If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career, what would it be?

Don’t let yourself become consumed with living up to other people’s opinions and expectations.
