When did you know you wanted to become a designer?

I loved creating all forms of art since the age of 8 or 9. It wasn’t until after high school, that I knew I wanted to be a designer.

What is your earliest design memory for your brand?

My earliest memory for Thalé Blanc is when I decided I wanted to design a Cheetah logo that would be iconic for the brand.  The Cheetah is the fastest animal in the desert (which means she is the best at what she does, she gives it her all), her spotted coat is timeless, she is graceful and makes a statement every time she shows up.  She does not attack her own.  She represented the woman that would wear Thalé Blanc.

What is your favorite part about designing?

My favorite part of designing is being able to make a woman feel special in what she’s wearing and being able to create a piece that makes a statement.

What did you wear to your first job interview?

It had to be something red.

“Quality, uniqueness and customer service are what set Thalé Blanc apart.  We always make a statement.”

What is your favorite fashion film or show?

The Devil wears Prada is my favorite!

What was your previous work experience before launching your brand?

I am also a gemologist; I created a fine jewelry line.  Designing embroideries for major brands was the most valuable experience in my career.

What sets your brand apart from the rest?

Quality, uniqueness and customer service are what set Thalé Blanc apart.  We always make a statement.

Do you have a favorite piece that you have designed?

The Audrey bag, and the Chicago Denim coat.  They are classic, timeless and our best sellers.

What were some hurdles you had to overcome in your business?

Networking was the biggest hurdle I had to overcome while creating my business.

“I am also fascinated by cultures, and a lot of my inspiration for Thalé Blanc can be derived from beautiful cultures around the world.”

What is the one piece of advice you would give to a new designer?

Find a great internship, great mentors and more importantly, find what makes you unique.

How important is social media to your brand?

Social media is the face of the brand, it’s a necessary tool.

Where do you find inspiration?

I am inspired by the need for change, and to create impact. Sometimes a single thought can give rise to a collection.  I am  fascinated by cultures, and a lot of my inspiration for Thalé Blanc can be derived from beautiful cultures around the world.

How did your brand navigate and overcome the pandemic in 2020?

Loyal customers and social media kept us alive during the pandemic.

What was the biggest rookie mistake you made when just starting out?

The biggest mistake we made was not being able to meet the demand.

How has the fashion industry changed since you first started out?

Fashion today is run by social media and investors.  We are losing true creativity; we are losing real artisanship.  How many products can you see on the market today and identify the brand, if it’s missing the logo or monogram?
