What was your previous work experience before launching your brand?

Absolutely none in the fashion industry! I worked and still do as an Oil & Gas / Energy professional.

"I realized there was a gap in the market for non-plus size tall clothing and decided to plug this gap."

What inspired you to create your own brand?

I’m 6ft tall, confident, and work in the corporate world. With a 36-inch inseam, trouser options are limited, and quality is subpar. This meant that finding color and style options, whether classic or on trend, was extremely difficult. I realized there was a gap in the market for non-plus size tall clothing and decided to plug this gap. Hence, I created Tall Glass of Water.

What is the inspiration for your brand’s name?

The Tall Confident Elegant Woman.

Did you always know you wanted to be a designer?

No, I didn’t. The brand was born purely out of need and has grown from there – straight out my own experience and requirements as a tall professional woman.

If you could do something different before starting your business, what would it be?

Nothing really. The business started and is growing organically, which I am very pleased with.

What was the toughest circumstance you overcame when just starting out your business?

Understanding the tailoring and production lingo! I had to learn quick!

How important is social media to your brand?

Very, because of how niche our market is. Word of mouth accounts for a lot of traction in the tall community. Social media is the fastest way to discover new things.

"I believe fashion is whatever you adorn yourself with that makes you feel comfortable and confident."

How do you define fashion?

I believe fashion is whatever you adorn yourself with that makes you feel comfortable and confident. It’s personal, therefore it may not be the same for another person.

What does the word “success” mean to you?

Achieving a personal goal, landmark or milestone. Again, it’s personal and different to each individual.

Do you see your brand ever expanding into a different avenue? Why or why not?

Yes. We hope to have some of our pieces in online and physical retail stores. Unfortunately, there are no physical stores we can walk into right now.

Are you passionate about something other than fashion?

Many things – business, entrepreneurship, and music among other things!

If you were not in the fashion industry what other industry or job would you be in?

I might have dabbled in amateur opera singing!
